Family Involvement at San Simon Elementary

San Simon Elementary School encourages families to support the growth and development of our Navajo Nation. Our students benefit from an educational program with dedicated faculty, staff, specialists and community members. We believe collaborating with all stakeholders and students develops the most impactful learning strategies. The school-student-family partnership is essential throughout the learning process and consistently yields academic achievement and progress.

Lifelong learning habits begin in the home with the family’s active participation in the student’s growth and development. Parents/guardians are their children’s first teachers and should remain involved in their child’s education after they start classroom learning. Children with parents/guardians involved in their child’s learning process and individual plan will experience significant gains and advantages to their performance.

Family involvement includes improving household literacy through reading initiatives, book fairs and household libraries. We also provide several opportunities throughout the school year to visit our campus and teachers during Parents Nights, Math Nights, science fairs, school board meetings and much more. Parents/guardians are a student’s greatest asset, and they will ensure a child’s advancement and success in middle school, high school and beyond.

Through academic, athletic, and cultural programs, students are supported and prepared to become leaders in our Navajo community. We invite families and community members in the Tohono O’odham Nation to contribute their knowledge and support to San Simon Elementary School’s holistic curriculum. Our students will continue reaching their highest potential through constant family and community involvement.
