Special Education at San Simon Elementary

San Simon Elementary provides academic and developmental services to address the unique challenges students with special needs face. We have an inclusive learning environment that guides students through their educational experience, helping them progress toward their individual goals. Our special education teachers collaborate with parents/guardians and teachers to design the most effective individualized education plans for special education students.

IEPs are the customized strategies our special education teachers use to support our students. Early identification of learning disabilities is key to our ability to help students advance to the next level. Children want to keep pace with their classmates, and our job is to remove obstacles, hindrances and limitations to their education. Our team provides various services to meet mental, physical, social and emotional challenges.

Personalized attention is vital to our special education program. Every child is different and needs an education plan perfectly suited to their abilities. Our special education team uses the most effective tools and techniques to accommodate a student. All education plans are adaptable, comprehensive and carefully monitored to document plan successes and needs for improvement.

Our close connection to parents/guardians is key to our special education program’s success. We encourage all parents and guardians of students in our special education program to stay involved in their child’s progress. Parents/guardians are not just a part of the early assessments and education plan creation, but they should continually share valuable insight for the classroom and provide essential assistance outside the classroom.
